The Senior Manager of Regional Strategy & Partnerships will lead the development and execution of strategic partnerships and initiatives to drive regional growth and enhance the competitive positioning of the Lianhe Zaobao & ThinkChina within the region. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, negotiate partnerships, plan and execute regional events and ensure the successful implementation of strategic projects. You are expected to:
Strategic Planning and Analysis
- Conduct market research (surveys) and analysis to identify markets trends, opportunities, and challenges within the region.
- Sharp target audience persona for each identified market.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.
Partnership Development and Management
- Identify potential partnership opportunities that can enhance the organization's market presence and competitive edge.
- Lead the negotiation, development, and implementation of partnership agreements.
- Manage ongoing relationships with partners, ensuring alignment and addressing any issues that arise.
Regional Events Planning and Execution
- Lead the planning, organization, and execution of regional forums and events that align with CMG’s strategic goals.
- Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, vendor contracts, speaker invitations, participant registration, and on-site coordination, ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees.
Financial Management and Budgeting
- Assist in overseeing the budget for strategic initiatives and partnerships, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.
- Work closely with the finance team and HR to monitor spending, assess financial performance of strategic initiatives, and adjust plans as necessary.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., editorial, marketing, circulation, sales, product development) to ensure strategic initiatives and partnerships are integrated into broader company operations.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among internal teams and external partners to achieve project objectives.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and present regular reports on regional strategic initiatives and partnership activities to senior management.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
Any other tasks, special projects, duties, or responsibilities assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Chinese Studies, Southeast Asia Studies, International Relations, Journalism, or other relevant disciplines
- Effectively bilingual in written and spoken English and Chinese as this role supports Chinese publications
- Good knowledge and interest in China/SE Asia and international relations.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the areas of business development, media and events management, that is, organising conferences, forums and webinars, and with at least 2 years of experience in a people management position; Prior experience in handling China-related businesses , SE Asia-related business or industries will be advantageous
- Possess strong partnership/stakeholder management capabilities and project management skills
- A self-starter, especially in the areas of stakeholder/partner engagement/management
- Willingness to travel as this is a regional role; knowledge of Southeast Asia, Hongkong and Taiwan is a plus
