Job Responsibilities
- Search available products to find the best combination of quality, price, and delivery
- Negotiate policies and contracts with various suppliers
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers
- Manage deliveries to confirm compliance with contracts
- Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions
- Manage any damaged or defective goods from suppliers
- Interact with suppliers on a day-to-day basis
- Review deliveries against the orders and track the status of any orders
- Keep detailed records and prepare and submit necessary reports
- Maintain professional relationships with all key suppliers
- Perform cost down exercises to achieve cost down targets
Job Requirements
- Diploma / ITE in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in a purchasing / buyer role in the Maritime / Service Industry will be an advantage
- Experience in vendor sourcing practices will be an advantage
- Hands-on experience with purchasing software (e.g. Navision / Biz Central 365)
- Understanding of supply chain procedures
- Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
- Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities and consider vendor contract terms
