Key Responsibilities:
● Hands-On Problem Solving: Address complex problems in the tax refund space using a variety of ML and data analysis methods.
● Data-Driven Product Development: Collaborate with business department heads and the product management team to support them with data-driven product ideas.
● Balanced Analysis: Combine quantitative data analysis with qualitative user insights to understand how users utilize their tax refunds while traveling.
● Data Ecosystem Development: Build and maintain data pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow across different business areas.
● Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business/operation teams and key stakeholders to formulate data-informed solutions and product changes.
● Insight Leveraging: Use data to answer business questions related to expansion, product development, process optimization, cost optimization, customer acquisition, retention, and churn.
● Cross-Functional Relationships: Form strong partnerships with designers, product managers, software developers, and marketers.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
● Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
● Industry Experience: 3+ years of relevant industry experience in some or most of the following technical areas:
○ Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python, including data structures and algorithm design.
○ Data Pipelines: Experience in building data pipelines using open-source platforms.
○ Cloud Platforms: Intermediate knowledge of Azure and/or AWS, including deploying data stores like S3, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Azure Blob Storage, and MongoDB.
○ Statistical Knowledge: Proficiency in NoSQL databases and ETL orchestration with Python or PySpark.
○ Software Development: Understanding of modern software development practices, including web frontend UI, backend API microservices, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
● Team Experience: Experience working with teams of researchers and analysts, preferably in a tech or travel environment.
● Research & Data Methodologies: Experience combining user research and data science methodologies across multiple products and teams.
● Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally and convey complex solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
