About The Role
The Shell LNG Marketing and Trading (SLMT) business has the ambition to deliver a significant new market for LNG as a transport fuel, with Downstream LNG (DLNG) as the global market leader, primarily focusing on LNG as Marine Fuel. SLMT has pioneered in this market since 2011 and has built a small scale and marine LNG presence in gloablly including Singapore.
In order to support DLNG’s rapid growth in APME region, the DLNG MTA will be a critical support function that operates within the business and will provide a strong focus on safety whilst being a key enabler in the overall commercial value drive.
The incumbent will provide maritime technical expertise to the DLNG business across the region with the main purpose to ensure that all maritime operations are conducted in accordance with the Group requirements for Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards and to protect the Group’s reputation as well as optimizing operational performance. The mission is to advice and support the DLNG business on compliance with maritime requirements both in operations and business development, being the expansion of the bunker and terminal portfolio for LNG.
The role is classified as the dedicated Authorized Person in maritime safety which has an interface with the Maritime Operations Assurance discipline and the incumbent will be reporting to the business Marine Manager.
Supporting a rapid growing DLNG business operation that will triple their Shipping & Maritime activities by 2030.
Supporting the Singapore Gas Marketing Team in the downstream sales of conventional LNG Gas up and cool down at Singapore LNG which includes collaborating with the global Maritime Function.
Regional business growth that requires strategic alignment with other DLNG MTAs globally.
Project to operational transitions with various maritime technical function collaboration and opportunity to potentially integrate with conventional LNG, IG, New Energy and Sectors & Decarbonization.
Individual performer that has to manage complex stakeholders and is the focal for all DLNG S&M activities in APME.
The DLNG MTA will represent the company as a subject matter expert in DLNG Maritime Operations especially in areas of advocacy and standards development of new markets in APME.
The incumbent shall have the following professional competencies:
1) Subject Matter Expert in Maritime Safety consistent with an International Oil Companies’ typical HSSE control framework
2) Risk Management and Process Safety of Marine LNG storage and transfer terminal, including floating LNG
3) Deep understanding and application of maritime industry standards and requirements such as SIGTTO, SGMF and IMO
4) A sound knowledge of shipping operations, ship/shore interface management, LNG bunker operations and maritime transportation of LNG in vessels.
5) Strong communication and relationship building capabilities to influence a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally. Skilled in presentation and product pitching is a must.
Additionally following functional competencies preferred:
1) Master Mariner with command experience onboard LNG tankers
2) LNG marine terminal and LNG vessel assurance and operational safety.
3) Lead Maritime related emergency response management – Gas terminal & Vessel.
4) Risk Management and Process Safety knowledge on Liquid Hydrogen storage and transfer terminal, including sea transportation.
