We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic research scientists to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our PI, Co-Is and researchers to develop and test the integration of CO2 capture and carbonation of incineration bottom ash (IBA) for decarbonation and waste management in Singapore. This role will involve conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new and improved methods for CO2 sequestration.
Job Scope:
- Assist in the development of a feasible and economical carbon capture technological package suitable for Singapore's national circumstances.
- Conduct regular literature surveys of technologies for CO2 absorption-desorption Tech, mineral carbonation, and carbonation of Incineration Bottom Ash (IBA) for waste management.
- Integrate experimental data from laboratory studies into process operation and optimization for CO2 absorption-desorption, mineral carbonation, and IBA carbonation.
- Conduct experiments in Testbed of CO2 absorption-desorption, Testbed of mineral carbonation, and Lab-scale IBA carbonation.
- Optimization of the set Testbeds to demonstrate CO2 absorption-desorption, mineral carbonation, and IBA carbonation technologies at scale.
- Conduct optimization studies to improve process designs based on initial results.
- Compile regular reports to keep the research team updated on progress and support project outcomes.
- Occasionally present results to external stakeholders such as national agencies and industrial partners.
- Perform other supporting work as needed.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
- At least 2 years of experience
- Good understanding of the concepts and processes involved in CO2 absorption and desorption.
- Comfortable with conducting hands-on CO2 absorption-desorption work in a laboratory and Testbed setting.
- Good understanding of chemical processes and their design and optimization.
- Good understanding of chemistry and chemical engineering concepts, particularly in (but not limited to) inorganic chemical synthesis and multiphase reactions.
- Experience in designing, setting up, and operating reactors and other equipment at the kg-scale.
- Experienced in material characterization techniques such as XRF, XRD, SEM, BET, TGA, ICP, and others.
- Comfortable working with uncertainty typically associated with early-stage research in chemical engineering topics.
