The Specialist AHP (Occupational Therapy) / OT Practice Lead works in the field of allied health professional practice. He/She leads clinical standards and practice guidelines within multi-disciplinary settings and provides specialised knowledge and expertise to improve allied health professional services, delivery and models of care. He/She uplifts professional practice through developing and delivering education and training for staff and other stakeholders. As a mentor, he/she also identifies and creates holistic development opportunities for allied health professionals. He/she leads research and new initiatives to enhance and/or design clinical services and programmes.
An experienced professional with good team management, interpersonal and communication skills, the Specialist AHP (Occupational Therapy) / OT Practice Lead steers interdisciplinary teams of professionals from various clinical disciplines towards collaborative practices and greater synergy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build professional partnerships and collaborations
- Lead engagement with the public and community stakeholders through various channels on professional issues
- Build network of professional partnerships across agencies to advance professional practice and clinical services
Drive client care and service excellence
- Lead evidence-based practices that align with emerging trends in specialty areas of clinical services
- Plan the development and implementation of new clinical services, assessment techniques and intervention strategies in professional practice domains
- Implement quality improvement projects to improve client care and clinical services at the organisation and/or department level
- Supervise the holistic management of clinically complex cases taking into consideration multi-disciplinary perspectives
Maintain professional, legal and ethical standards
- Review, align and set clinical practice guidelines and clinical competency standards
- Assess and review the clinical competency of staff across disciplines
- Review and maintain relevancy and currency of organisational processes and procedures in line with ethical-legal requirements, professional codes of conduct and standards of practice
Manage clinical supervision
- Implement clinical supervision structures and guidelines for AHP staff in compliance with prevailing requirements determined by professional bodies and accreditation boards
- Monitor staff adherence to clinical supervision guidelines and requirements for professional licencing or accreditation
- Provide mentorship to multi-disciplinary teams and clinical supervision for senior AHP staff
Manage quality of training and development activities
- Oversee induction, clinical orientation and mentorship programmes for new staff
- Develop assessment methods and tools to evaluate effectiveness of departmental training programmes and providers
- Plan and organise clinical attachment programmes in collaboration with educational institutions
Uplift professional practice
- Implement frameworks for staff participation in continuous professional development
- Develop and implement training roadmaps, professional development initiatives and programmes across all disciplines
Manage quality of innovation and research activities
- Develop departmental research, data analytics and project management guidelines
- Develop research skills and capabilities in staff
- Provide supervision and/or mentorship for research projects in professional practice domains
Promote culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Lead research on current clinical services, programmes and specified issues in professional practice
- Lead innovation projects in professional practice and service delivery areas for continuous improvement
- Minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy recognised by the relevant local professional association
- Post-Graduate qualifications in relevant field of clinical specialisation
- Minimum 8 years of experience in clinical practice as Occupational Therapist
- Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical supervision
- Prior experience in supervisory and/or leadership roles would be an advantage
- Full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council with a valid AHPC practising certificate
