Manager, Center for Health Activation

Ctes Consulting Pte. Ltd.

Ctes Consulting Pte. Ltd. company logo

The vision of Centre for Health Activation (CHA) is to drive activation and build capabilities in patients, families and volunteers in the hospital and the community. CHA is poised to move towards activation as a broader mission and to develop effective pedagogy in social care, health activation and volunteerism, supported by strong research and groundwork.

The Manager / Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Director in driving, leading and supporting the Training and Research arm of the Centre for Health Activation. Strategies are aligned to support the broader mission and vision of Central Health where we shift care beyond the hospital into the community – by working with patients and their caregivers to enable them to manage their own health and to change the role of the healthcare system from being a ‘provider of care’ to being a ‘partner of care’.

The Manager / Assistant Manager must be able to lead and build synergy as one Centre for Health Activation team member – be a positive, proactive and responsible team player and collaborate closely with teams within CHA.

The responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead in the development and implementation of a sustainable training and research roadmap, community engagement framework and toolkit that would help enhance and elevate the branding and reputation of the Centre for Health Activation. This includes preparation and presentation of proposals for the approval of Senior Management and other relevant meeting platforms and ensure timely completion of all projects and reporting of outcomes.
  • Drive the Division of Central Health’s strategic projects and initiatives pertaining to taking on a leadership role in building and sustaining new and existing community partnerships to drive activation efforts in the hospital and the Central Health region. Develop and implement a conducive framework and environment for individuals to take charge of their own health and to care for the health of others in the community.
  • Build and sustain community partnerships in the areas of training volunteers and co-creating a community of practice in driving community activation and building a community of carers. Create the means, framework, platform and environment for Central Health residents to take charge of their own health and to go beyond self-care to serving the community.
  • Create and build a vibrant marketplace by bringing together volunteers and partners from different organisations to network, share experiences and best practices and exchange ideas and bond with one another. This diversity allows Central Health to have fresh perspectives for better decision making, risk management and a more robust corporate governance.
  • Build communities of activated volunteers with shared interests. Ideas garnered from learning platforms could go towards research or to improve the framework in developing and sustaining quality volunteers.
  • Identify and leverage potential funding programmes and partners as seed funding for implementation of pilot training programmes under the auspice of CHA.
  • Establish governance and volunteer management framework to ensure that community programmes adhere to organisational values and volunteers are continuously engaged and sustained for practice in a safe and conducive environment.
  • Identify appropriate research tools and methodologies such as the adoption of validated tools such as the Patient Activation Measure (PAM-13), which enables the patients to assess their personal activation levels and equip them with the resources, knowledge and support to increase activation levels through experiential learning.
  • Lead and execute large scale events (Singapore Patient Conference and Singapore Patient Action Awards) within set budgets, standard operating protocols, funding mechanisms and pre-defined timelines.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:

  • Degree in business, communications, social sciences, behavioral science, psychology, social anthropology or a related field will be an advantage
  • At least five or more years of community engagement and/or research, preferably in the healthcare and/or social service sector.
  • Must have prior experience in leading teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to lead and influence behaviours to get work done
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage projects independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with a keen eye for details
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people skills with a positive, upbeat and enthusiastic attitude
  • Resourcefulness in problem solving and resilient in overcoming challenges independently
  • Experience in large-scale event management
  • Strong work ethics
  • Superior professionalism, leadership skills and makes sound judgment
