Wealth and Personal Banking has four key business areas responsible for efficiently bringing the best of HSBC to our clients through a broad and relevant suite of wealth and retail banking capabilities: Asset Management, Global Private Banking & Wealth, HSBC Life, Retail Banking & Strategy and COO & Digital Transformation.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives Lead.

Principal Responsibilities

Impact on the Business / Function

  • Drive and evolve the strategic direction of the SG WPB business, taking into consideration such factors as industry trends, regulatory environments, client feedback, revenue opportunity and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate across business lines (Retail banking, Private banking, HSBC Life and AMG) to drive the ‘One WPB’ agenda of single prioritized backlog of change required
  • Actively participate in and support the WPB change agenda, including ad hoc projects, strategic reviews, planning, management information (MI), accountability and governance
  • Lead identified initiatives end to end, from design and initiation, through to execution and commercialization, managing risks, issues and dependencies to ensure a successful outcome.
  • Preparation of committee/forum papers and presentations

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Support senior management in developing and refining WPB strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve FRP targets and long-term objectives
  • Partner with business lines Distribution/Channels to continuously improve ways of working and collaboration on agreed business priorities
  • Investigate and seek remedies for identified issues which may be adversely affecting business performance
  • Manage multiple global and regional stakeholder relationships, ensuring outcomes delivered are appropriate for SG WPB and support local business priorities

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Identify and work with key stakeholders to gain buy-in and ensure that strategies and solutions will be effectively delivered by all areas of the business.
  • Be an effective team player through clear communication, performance management, development plans and rewards/recognition
  • Work in a flexible manner to build capability and progress objectives, while not losing sight of the profitability and productivity outcomes
  • Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Engage in regular reviews to identify key risks, issues and interdependencies. Determine and apply appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Ensure regular and positive engagement with key support functions such as Risk, Compliance and HR
  • Implementation of Global Standards, Financial Crime Compliance and Risk policies / requirements

Qualifications

  • University degree with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Possesses well developed communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to maintain solid working relationships with senior management and other stakeholders
  • Preferred prior experience in project management & business integration in financial services industry
  • Good understanding of the Singapore financial industry and consumer behavior
  • Fluent in English
