The Head Chef is responsible for the overall culinary operations of the restaurant, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food, maintaining kitchen standards, managing staff, and collaborating with front-of-house teams to create an exceptional dining experience.
Job Description
- Culinary Leadership: Oversee all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and execution.
Maintain strict quality control standards for all dishes.
Develop and update menus to reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Team Management: Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure consistent preparation techniques and high performance.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing kitchen environment.
Address performance issues and provide constructive feedback.
- Inventory and Cost Control: Monitor inventory levels and place orders strategically to prevent shortages and minimize waste.
Manage the kitchen budget effectively, controlling food costs, and optimizing portion sizes.
- Hygiene and Safety: Enforce strict hygiene standards and ensure compliance with local health regulations.
Maintain a safe working environment and address safety concerns promptly.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with service staff to ensure smooth service flow and address customer feedback effectively.
Communicate with management regarding kitchen operations, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Performance Under Pressure: Handle high-pressure situations, such as busy shifts and special events, maintaining exceptional quality and service.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.
Requirements
- Education: Nitec or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar role (Chinese cuisine experience preferred).
- Certifications: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred).
- Language: Mandarin and English proficiency so as to communicate with the staffs efficiently and help prevent any miscommunication.
- Skills: Strong culinary expertise and creativity.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
