Assistant Manager, Regional Compliance

Summary:

  1. Internal Control and Compliance (1st Line of Defense): Promote and support internal control and compliance initiatives on behalf of the Compliance Manager, focusing on Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, and Export Controls/Strategic Trade Management within the local company.
  2. Regional Compliance Promotion (2nd Line of Defense): Advocate and support compliance efforts in the Asia Pacific/India region (including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and India) on Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, and Export Controls/Strategic Trade Management.
  3. Regional Onsite Audit (3rd Line of Defense): Conduct risk-based internal audits and assist with other audit-related matters for client and client group companies in the region.
  4. Whistleblowing Investigation (4th Line of Defense): Participate in whistleblowing investigations related to Competition Law, Corruption, Bribery, Embezzlement, and Fraudulent Accounting in collaboration with the Client Management Audit Department in the region.

Job Description:

Internal Control and Compliance (20%)

  • Promote and support internal control and compliance initiatives related to Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, and Export Controls/Strategic Trade Management.
  • Act as a compliance checker for competitor contact applications, donation/entertainment/gift applications, and export control/strategic trade management screening, ensuring adherence to Client GPPs and Singapore laws and regulations.
  • Provide regular compliance training and monitor the status of the annual MHI Group e-Learning.
  • Conduct self-assessments (QAIP, J-SOX, Export Control) and report findings to the Client Global Headquarters (GHQ).

Regional Compliance Promotion (50%)

  • Promote and enforce Client Group Global Policies and Procedures (GPPs) on Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, and Export Controls/Strategic Trade Management.
  • Support the creation and revision of Client Group/Regional/Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and conduct compliance seminars and training sessions in the region.
  • Keep abreast of regional compliance news and share relevant information with Client Group companies in the region.

Regional Onsite Audit (20%)

  • Develop risk-based audit plans to prioritize regional audit assessments and scopes.
  • Conduct full-cycle regional audit assessments, including preparation, onsite fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Present regional audit plans and assessment results to Client-MA, business domains/segments, and parent companies in Japan.

Whistleblowing Investigation (10%)

  • Support Client Group companies in the region with implementing whistleblowing helplines in compliance with local laws and regulations (labor laws, personal data protection).
  • Participate in whistleblowing investigations with Client-MA on matters related to Competition Law, Corruption, Bribery, Embezzlement, and Fraudulent Accounting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience as an auditor or compliance officer.
  • Experience in promoting compliance activities (Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, Export Controls/Strategic Trade Management).
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office.
  • Preferred qualifications: Compliance Certification, Certified Internal Auditor, proficiency in Japanese.
  • Willingness to travel internationally within the region (Southeast Asia, Pacific, and India) for compliance promotion and internal audits (5-6 trips per year, each lasting 5 to 12 working days).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and avoid disclosing or using confidential information for third-party benefits.
