Job Responsibilities
- Assist Shift Manager to ensure safe shift operation of the assigned plant and manage non-operating activities and co-ordination with internal and external stakeholders on operating requirements to facilitate the smooth operation of the power plants and in compliance with regulatory and company standards and requirements
- Become a pro-active member of the Station Team
- Support the SCE; PSCE and Operations Manager to meet the contractual, technical and commercial set-up and operation of the Power Station
- Input to and liaison with the relevant Managers for long term Station planning
- Assist to implement modern O&M practices, tools and techniques for safe, reliable and efficient Power Station operation and to fully utilise all Power Plant’s contractual energy, fuel and utility supply agreements
- Act as Senior Authorized Person (SAP) in preparing, reviewing and issuing PTW (Permit To Work)
- Able to support the team during plant emergency situations and abnormal conditions
- To assist operation team to comply with PSO/SPPG/NGCC requirements and procedures
- To support SCE/PSCE to ensure plant load output according to Trader dispatch schedule
- Assist to establish and implement mandatory O&M policies and procedures to meet all Station, company and legislative requirements
- Able to manage, monitoring and control the plant process operation from control room DCS
- Fully utilizing the CMMS to ensure all operation activities and experiences are recorded to comply with station, legislative and company policy requirements
- Assist to implement a Quality Management System as applied to the Power Station
- To assist fully with and help implement and manage all Health, Safety and Environmental practices
- To take part in training both on and off site, to be trained and to train others as required
- The post holder will be expected to comply with all company and legislative health requirements relevant to their duties and responsibilities
- To undertake additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Operations Manager, PSCE and SCE
- Such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by your immediate supervisor / the head of department from time to time
Job Requirements
- A Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Control & Instrumentation Engineering preferred. Candidates with Diploma or NITEC qualifications with substantial experience in a similar role will be considered
- Minimum 6 years of Lead Technical Officer/ Operations Engineer ground experience in Power Station Operations on a CCPP
- Solid understanding, knowledge and experience of Combined Cycle Power Station operations
- Good understanding of Power Station commercial operation strategies in a deregulated electricity market and familiar with CCPP and Cogen performance analysis and optimisation
- General understanding of Power Station engineering design and construction is essential. Prior involvement in the technical and maintenance aspects of Gas Turbines and in the erection, commissioning and initial start-up phases of a modern Power Station will be valuable
- Strong safety mindset with detailed knowledge and experience in modern Health, Safety and Environmental practices
- Strong team-player with the ability to lead a specialist shift team and manage numerous personnel during critical plant outage periods
