Purpose of the Job
This role is responsible for leading the tax team and providing appropriate tax advice to the organisation
This role will also be engaging with the business to support the activities relating to Group’s international tax strategy and transfer pricing model, coordinating external advice as necessary to create and maintain an optimum tax structure and minimizing the Group’s direct and indirect tax cost and exposure.
Ensure all global tax compliance obligations are met and the returns are consistent with the planning structures in place and for ensuring the accurate reporting of tax charges and liabilities under IFRS.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that all the entities in the Group comply with the relevant tax and transfer pricing related regulations where the entities operate including assisting in the preparation of the transfer pricing documentations
- Responsible for all tax compliance and planning issues for the group
- Provide support including developing tax efficient structures for acquisitions, divestment, financing and cross-border transactions
- Reviewing and identifying tax issues such as the taxation of foreign income, tax treaties, permanent establishment and withholding tax implications.
- Ensure adequate current tax provision and deferred tax asset/liability for the group
- To manage and resolve the tax audits/controversies
- Identify and manage tax risks / opportunities for the Group’s operations.
- Identify tax initiatives that may qualify for tax incentives in the respective countries
- Work with business units to advise, design and manage business model from tax perspective
- Recommend and implement improvement to the tax compliance and reporting processes and establish a standardized process within the Group.
- Identifying and addressing potential tax implications on projects undertaken
- To identify, follow-up and resolve the tax risk/contingencies;
- Supervising the tax team and sharing your experience and knowledge of leading-practices
- To comply with Company’s policies and Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE)
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting/Taxation
- Professional Certification: Member/affiliate of SIATP/ISCA or other recognised professional accountant/taxation institutes
- Minimum 7 years’ tax experience with IRAS and/or in public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) and/ or MNC handling direct or indirect taxes, regional role but preferably in a global role.
- Prior experiences with maritime industry are preferred, but not required.
