Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of accounts, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
2. Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable, including verifying invoices, preparing payment vouchers, and processing payments.
- Handle accounts receivable, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
3. Billing and Collections:
- Generate and review client invoices in accordance with the firm's billing guidelines.
- Monitor and manage the collections process, including sending reminders and coordinating with clients for payment.
- Address billing discrepancies and resolve any issues related to client accounts.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including GST and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit necessary regulatory filings and reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
5. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Prepare various financial reports and analysis as required by management.
- Assist in cost control and efficiency improvement initiatives.
6. Support for Legal Practice:
- Collaborate with legal teams to provide financial support and advice on client matters.
- Assist in the management of client trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial information and reports to support case management and client engagements.
- Perform any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA) are advantageous.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with legal billing and trust account management is a plus.
- Proficient in accounting software (Quickbook, Xero, Wave) and MS Office applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
