Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Water business at the Singapore Office. In summary, this role provides technical support particularly in mechanical engineering for the Singapore Office and more generally to the Asia Region; manages project inputs and ensures the project budget and controls are in place; works closely with the multi-disciplinary Managers in Jacobs and the Client and need to be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with the parties; and will have an indirect supervisory role for the Mechanical Engineers within the design team and will provide clear technical guidance and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that consistent quality standards and conformance with design plans/specifications are maintained across the project.
  • Working within the design team and carry out engineering tasks on process mechanical services during concept design and detailed design (including calculations, computer simulations, specifications etc.) for water and wastewater projects and manage the mechanical project team to ensure quality works, delivery of projects in time and within budget.
  • Review and understand Mechanical scope, BIM, specifications and drawings for all Mechanical works.
  • Engage with clients to understand needs and wants and interpret these into the designs, with compliance to relevant Local Building Codes and international standards where required.
  • Write technical reports and specifications.
  • Working with drafting and design staff to fulfill deliverables.
  • Support in proposal and bids.
  • Managing and cultivate business relationship with Client.
  • Liaise and coordinate relevant technical issues with other disciplines.
  • Understand and follow plans, procedures, workflows, systems and tools to meet specific project requirements.
  • Attend meetings, discussions with clients, contractors, vendors and provide input into technical discussions.
  • Provide technical leadership (Mechanical) on all related technical and engineering issues.
  • Enforce specifications and codes of practice.
  • Support site supervision and plant commissioning activities when required.

To be a successful candidate, you must possess:

  • Minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university recognized by PEB Singapore.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. Experience with PUB projects would be an added advantage.
  • Proven capabilities in client interfacing and liaison.
  • Understanding of the commercial consulting environment and commercial acumen.
  • Experience working with BIM and 3D models would be an added advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills; ability to think logically; and ability to write technical documents.
  • Commitment to the company values.
  • Ability to work with deadlines; Self-motivated, open to challenging and new experiences.
  • Ability to do some business travels in the Asia region when needed.
