Since 2007, we’ve expanded our legal initiatives and programs, helping over 150,000 people with legal awareness, guidance, and representation.

In 2022, we renamed as Pro Bono SG (PBSG) to reflect the commitment of everyone in Singapore to our mission of doing good in the community.

We serve the community by facilitating access to justice for the needy and vulnerable so that all may have access to justice in Singapore.

The Job:

The Head of Development and Communications for our charity will be responsible for leading and implementing strategies to raise funds, increase brand awareness and support the mission of our organisation. This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team to identify and cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners. It will also include the research and application of grants.

  • Develop and implement fundraising plans to support the organisation's mission and goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership on all areas of the fundraising continuum – in terms of donor recruitment, retention, enhancement, and relationship management for each donor cluster through systematic CRM/ database management.
  • Develop and implement a systematic supporter journey program for key donor clusters – Major gift, corporate donor, corporate sponsors, and key fundraising volunteers (e.g.  Fundraising Committee, ambassadors, and influencers).
  • Develop and deliver plans for acquiring and retaining new sponsors and donors within the clusters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Lead and ensure quality and effectiveness of relevant fundraising-related events and campaigns.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of specific events and campaigns to determine the strengths, gaps and opportunities and have an implementation plan to address them.
  • Lead in the timely and relevant post-event appreciation communications and reports.
  • Provide strategic input on budgets and financial reports to determine the progress of the fundraising as well as projection and tracking of fundraising costs.
  • Engage with the Fundraising Committee on the overall direction of fundraising plans and actuals.
  • Develop and implement communications and media strategies to increase publicity and brand awareness, and support fundraising efforts.
  • Lead and manage a team of development and communications professionals.
  • Provide leadership to the communications team in developing relevant marketing collaterals that support and drive fundraising and advocacy activities through the events.
  • Develop our digital/social media platform presence on platforms including our website, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and digital crowdfunding platforms to maximise awareness of PBSG’s programmes and fundraising activities.
  • Support the creation of communications and development tools such as through writing and editing of materials including but not limited to annual reports, digital fundraising campaigns, website and social media posts, videos, podcasts, presentation materials, letters, speeches, human interest stories, infographics and post-events pages that support and drive fundraising and advocacy activities.
  • Monitor development trends in the community and updating, developing, and implementing PBSG’s development and communications plans, strategies, policies, and processes accordingly.
  • Oversee the production of all fundraising materials, including proposals, reports, and donor communications.
  • Research, apply and manage grants.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. non-profit management, marketing, communications, business).
  • At least 5 years of experience in development and communications, with a proven track record of success in fundraising and building relationships with donors, supporters and media.
  • Experienced in identifying potential funders/supporters and other sources of fundraising.
  • Experience with non-profit development and fundraising database management and reporting.
  • Experienced in the engagement and management of existing pool of funders.
  • Experienced in providing thought leadership for new fundraisers, events, and campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience in systematic supporter journey programs and fund-raising events.
  • Social media / digital campaign experience / skills.
  • Excellent social skills with strong verbal and written communication competency
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • A passion for the mission and values of the organization.
  • Proactive in problem solving and has a responsible attitude.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work under pressure
  • Able to work and lead in a team setting as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Appointment will commensurate with the selected candidate's experience and skills. Candidates with the potential and a passion for growth will also be considered.
