Centre Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To act and leading through the line management and mentorship of supervisors and managers.
  • In partnership with the Human Resource function, to lead, develop and maintain a care workforce through recruitment and retention strategies, and ensuring that it fit our purpose and a culture that is inclusive and aims to motivate and develop the skills of all staff.
  • Implement and ensure systematic KPI requirements are measured, reported, analyses and actioned appropriately.
  • To support the dept head in applying care governance framework, ensuring that the audit cycle is fulfilled team is trained to undertake audit programmes as appropriate. Ensure the evaluation of all audits is effectively and objectively undertaken and change of practice is implemented.
  • Maintain proactive liaison with all associated external agencies and stakeholders in relation to the services offered by OV. Attend external forums professional clinical meeting participation as appropriate. To be accountable for the maintenance of a safe and homely environment for all clients, staff and visitors, ensuring all health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and compliance monitored.
  • To ensure that immediate supervisors / managers maintain an appropriate balance between administrative and managerial responsibilities and clinical practice. Ensuring that opportunities are taken by the team to observe, assess and mentor all elements of care practise within the team.

Leadership and Management

  • Take the lead responsibility for ensuring the monitoring of planned performance management is maintained through the supervision process, and where appropriate support or lead the management of poor performance, capability and competence concerns. Ensure the staffing KPIs are met and reported accurately and on time.
  • To support the Dept head in the on-going development of the Senior Care Centre/Active Ageing Centre service/ AAC. Implementation of new initiatives and practise development, pilot projects/monitor/audit and introduce into mainstream service delivery. Participate in the strategic planning of OV Senior Care Centre/Active Ageing Centre service.
  • To proactively develop a professional and supportive network within and outside OV, to continue to develop leadership skills and maintain your knowledge through current research and evidence relating to our field of care, and in particular to the developments in caring for people with dementia.
  • To always lead by example, behaving in a manner that is professional, positive and meets this senior position, ensuring confidentiality is paramount and professional boundaries always assessed and applied.
  • To be accountable for ensuring the adherence to OV policies, procedures and guidelines produced by OV in relation to care practise and general issues.
  • To ensure that the Dept Head of Senior Care Centre / Active Ageing Centre is kept fully informed of any areas of concern in care practise and service across OV.
  • To ensure at all times the confidentiality of all information, paper, electronic and verbal relating to all clients, their families and the business and employees of OV is safeguarded.
  • To ensure and lead by example the non-discriminatory practices and behavior of all and to all clients, their families, employees and visitors.
  • To support other duties /responsibilities for other dept when needed.

Qualifications

  • Passionate elderly care professional with significant Senior Care Centre / Active Ageing Centre or nursing home management level experience
  • Able to inspire and mentor teams of staff through promotion of strong company values and ethos.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen - committed to ensuring the Senior Care Centre / Active Ageing Centre services becomes a beacon of the local community. Strong internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Experience of improving standards and developing quality audits and procedures.
  • A nurse qualification in Gerontology nursing would be a distinct advantage, but non-clinical candidates will also be considered.
