Scientist Position in the field of Animal Science/Microbial Genomics
Our research team at Wilmar International is seeking to hire an enthusiastic scientist in animal gut microbiology and feed science with skills in microbial ecology and microbial genomics/ meta-omics. The successful candidate will work on projects aiming to improve animal health and nutrition through improved understanding of the roles of individual microbial populations during pre-fermentation of feed components and during digestion in the gut.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish strategies and methods to improve and evaluate product quality;
- Integrate genomic, metagenomic and metabolomic data sets;
- Validate and apply bioinformatic and statistical tools to a variety of data sets;
- Provide support during upscaling of biological processes;
- Organize, analyze, and present data at seminars, meetings, and conferences;
- Contribute to writing reports, research papers, and patent applications;
- Collaborate internally and with Wilmar-related companies to translate findings and develop improved techniques, products or practices and new routes of research;
Job Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in microbiology, biotechnology, animal nutrition, or related discipline;
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux tools, experience in methods for next-generation sequencing, (meta)genome assembly and binning, and genome reconstruction;
- Experience in statistical analyses;
- Wet-lab experience (handling biological samples, D/RNA extraction, (meta)genomics, transcriptomics, etc.) would be an advantage;
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken);
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, but also enjoy interacting with, learning from and contributing to the team.
