JOB SUMMARY
As a Communications Executive/Senior Executive, you will play an essential role in crafting compelling narratives and managing communication materials to support our Bible ministry. Working closely with the Communications Team Lead, you will enhance our visibility and impact by managing multi-faceted communications within the UBS Fellowship and externally. This role involves collaborating with the Bible Program Team and church partners in China to harvest and report testimonies and stories, evaluate and craft appropriate responses to fundraising inquiries, and facilitate the raising of resources and funds
Key Responsibilities
1. Storytelling & Journalism: Plan, write, and edit testimonies, impact stories, donor reports, and other communications materials. A strong background and training in journalism and storytelling is vital.
2. Content Production: Coordinate the production of core communication collaterals including the Project booklet and Annual Magazine, for both online and hardcopy publication.
3. Data Management: Manage the collection of China Church statistics and regularly update the internal website with relevant information and media reports.
4. Strategic Support: Assist the Comms Team Lead in executing strategies to raise our profile, benchmarking against best practices in communications.
5. Collaborative Support: Support the communications work of various funding Bible Societies in their appeals, updates, and reporting.
6. Editorial Support: Provide writing, translation, and editorial support for Field and Program Managers for project reporting and story sharing.
7. Trip Planning: Assist in planning communications and other trips to China and accompany these trips when necessary.
8. Hosting Delegates: Support the China Partnership Relations Manager in hosting delegates from Bible Societies and China ministry partners.
9. Other Duties: Perform any other editorial tasks as assigned by the Directors.
Essential Skills & Experience
● Writing & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese, with prior training or experience in journalism.
● Cultural Sensitivity: A burden for missions in China and an understanding and appreciation of its culture and context.
● Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with the team, as well as external partners such as writers, translators, and designers, to achieve common goals.
● Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Google and social media platforms, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other applications. Familiarity with content management systems (e.g. WordPress), digital marketing tools (e.g. Google Analytics, SEO practices, email marketing platforms, e.g. Mailchimp).
● Organizational Skills: Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
● Self-Motivation: Personal confidence to be open to continuous learning and development.
● Emotional Management: Ability to manage one’s own emotions and behaviors, especially during times of change.
● Flexibility: Willingness to work unsociable hours and travel nationally and overseas when needs arise.
Desirable Skills & Experience
● Trends Awareness: Knowledge of current trends in communication platforms, marketing communications, and digital media/social media.
● Global Experience: Experience working in global networked teams.
● China Focus: Prior experience with organizations operating in China or with China-related interests.
● Christian Ministry: Experience in an international Christian ministry.
● Video Production: Skills in video recording, editing, and production.
● Graphic Design: Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
