Specific Responsibilities:
Manager of the Regional Legal Division will handle various legal matters of Yamato Transport (S) Pte. Ltd. (the “Company”). Main duties of Manager of the Regional Legal Division will be to:
- draft, review and revise various types of agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, service agreements, consultancy agreements and outsourcing agreements;
- respond to inquiries from the Company’s other divisions, such as interpretation of existing agreements, legality of new business opportunities or changes in laws and regulations;
- draft, review and maintain compliance related documents, such as company regulations and policies;
- advise on and assist in handling claims from or disputes with customers, service providers, and/or suppliers;
- organize and conduct in-house training for the Company;
- prepare responses to various surveys initiated by Japan HQ; and
- assist other divisions in the Company in any way required.
In addition, Manager of the Regional Legal Division will support General Manager of the Regional Legal Division for various legal matters for Yamato group companies in Southeast Asia. Some of the duties will be to:
- research laws and regulations in the region and draft memo to respond to legal inquires;
- review and revise various types of documents for Yamato group companies in the region;
- liaise with Japan HQ’s Legal Department, Yamato group’s business departments and external professionals for global transactions; and
- plan and organize compliance training for Yamato group companies in the region, including instructing outside counsel, liaising with Japan HQ, and reviewing training materials.
Job Requirements:
- License to practice law or a law degree
- Ability to review and draft English agreements with minimum supervision
- Preferably, 1-2 years of work experience in a corporate/commercial department in a law firm in Singapore or a Singapore company
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Native level English skills
- Meticulous and organized
- Independent, pro-active and willing to learn
- Willing to handle clerical or non-legal work
