Refrigeration and Airconditioning Technician
Job Summary:
The refrigeration engineer/technician will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems, including walk-in cold room, chiller, freezers, refrigerators, Airconditioning, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. The technician ensures systems operate efficiently, comply with safety standards, and meet clients' cooling requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install new refrigeration systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Interpret drawings and schematics to ensure proper installation.
- Maintenance: Regularly maintain refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Replace filters, belts, and other components as needed.
- Repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and electrical components.
Troubleshoot issues related to temperature control, leaks, and electrical problems.
- Inspections and Testing: Conduct regular inspections of systems to identify potential issues.
Test systems to ensure they operate within specified parameters.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all installations and repairs comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
Handle refrigerants responsibly, following environmental regulations to prevent leaks and ensure proper disposal.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, propose solutions, and provide cost estimates.
Offer recommendations for system upgrades or replacements when necessary.
Requirement and Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, components, and systems. Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration and HVAC systems. Familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and HVAC principles.
Experience and Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a vocational or technical training program in refrigeration or HVAC.
Relevant certification is preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in refrigeration or a related field.
Physical Abilities: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, and weekends, and being on-call for emergency repairs.
Work Environment: This may involve working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Exposure to loud noises, hazardous materials, and extreme temperatures.
Schedule: Full-time position with potential for overtime.
On-call availability may be required for emergency repairs.
Additional Requirements:
- Driver’s License: Valid Singapore class 3 driver's license and a clean driving record, as often travel to various job sites.
