Job Overview
The selected individual will be assisting the Senior Vice President, Special Projects to oversee all legal matters. This role supports two listed groups, namely Stamford Land Corporation Ltd and Singapore Shipping Corporation Limited.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing advice to the business and operation units on legal and compliance issues.
- Building strong relationships and collaborating with the relevant stakeholders.
- Providing legal guidance and support on commercial contracts and contracting matters.
- Providing legal guidance and support in relation to the compliance programmes covering anti-bribery and corruption, export compliance and competition law.
- Promoting good practice in terms of contract management processes and intellectual property protection.
- Ensuring good corporate governance and advise on the establishment of any new company or other business undertaking.
- Identifying opportunities for and conducting training on all areas of legal and compliance policies and ensuring that full and adequate training records are kept.
- Assisting with the implementation, monitoring and auditing of legal and compliance policies and SOPs.
- Identifying legal risks or concerns and ensure that significant issues are recognised and addressed.
- Supporting on disputes and handling litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters.
- Overseeing the instruction and management of external counsel.
- Liaising and collaborating effectively with other departments.
- Reporting on legal and compliance affairs monthly and more frequently as appropriate on specific matters.
Requirements
- Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent professional qualifications.
- Admission to the Singapore, UK or Australia Bar.
- 7 to 10 years’ post qualification experience in Singapore listed companies, MNCs or law firms.
- Experience in the real estate industry is preferred, but not a requirement.
- Experience in litigation is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the SGX rules and corporate governance/compliance matters
- Ability to travel.
