Our client is a well-known player in the commodities industry and has a strong presence in the world. They are currently seeking to hire a Trainee Ship Broker.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the senior brokers in the negotiation and conclusion of chartering and sale & purchase transactions, while gaining practical knowledge and experience in the shipbroking industry.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential clients.
- Analyze shipping markets, vessel movements, and commodity flows.
- Prepare market reports and presentations for senior brokers and clients.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with shipowners, charterers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in client meetings, calls, and networking events to understand client needs and promote services.
- Assist in negotiating terms and conditions of chartering and sale & purchase agreements.
- Prepare and review contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date records of transactions, contracts, and communications.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and updating databases.
- Participate in training programs and on-the-job learning opportunities.
- Stay updated with industry developments, regulations, and best practices.
- Work closely with senior brokers and other team members to support transaction processes.
- Contribute to team goals and objectives through collaborative efforts.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in the shipping industry and international trade.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Knowledge of a second language (advantageous).
- Previous internship or experience in the maritime or shipping industry (preferred but not essential).
