Our client is a well-known player in the commodities industry and has a strong presence in the world. They are currently seeking to hire a Trainee Ship Broker.


Key Responsibilities

  • To support the senior brokers in the negotiation and conclusion of chartering and sale & purchase transactions, while gaining practical knowledge and experience in the shipbroking industry.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential clients.
  • Analyze shipping markets, vessel movements, and commodity flows.
  • Prepare market reports and presentations for senior brokers and clients.
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with shipowners, charterers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings, calls, and networking events to understand client needs and promote services.
  • Assist in negotiating terms and conditions of chartering and sale & purchase agreements.
  • Prepare and review contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of transactions, contracts, and communications.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and updating databases.
  • Participate in training programs and on-the-job learning opportunities.
  • Stay updated with industry developments, regulations, and best practices.
  • Work closely with senior brokers and other team members to support transaction processes.
  • Contribute to team goals and objectives through collaborative efforts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in the shipping industry and international trade.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Knowledge of a second language (advantageous).
  • Previous internship or experience in the maritime or shipping industry (preferred but not essential).
