Sustainability Partnerships Lead

Job Summary

· Working with the Senior Sustainability Advisor to lead – as the senior staff member working exclusively on the issue - bank thinking and strategy development re programmatic Blended Finance;

· Originating, structuring and executing ‘blended finance partnerships and platforms’ (as defined in the Blended Finance Programmes Team business plan) across the Standard Chartered footprint and in line with the business plan;

· Working with internal stakeholders (notably the newly recreated PSDO) and external stakeholders to deliver these blended and innovative financing instruments to the client base – and working collaboratively with product and coverage partners to provide well-designed solutions that meet client needs by executing project deals through negotiated partnerships;

· Acting as a centre of excellence to internal stakeholders with respect to leveraging concessional financing and representing the bank at relevant industry events in Asia and advocate SCB commitment in SF and net zero;

· Support the SSA in leading the growing Blended Finance Programmes team, cultivating a culture of excellence, and acting as a champion of the Bank’s brand, culture, and conduct standards

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

· Nurture strategic relations with global/regional ecosystem stakeholders, including MDBs and government agencies, to further and strengthen SCB market position and scale activities within the blended finance space;

· Identify SF ecosystem needs; to develop and execute new, differentiated growth/revenue-generating products & services for the bank in the blended finance space that support SF and country coverage heads mission and strategy

· Innovate new ideas and content to support SF thought leadership and market development

Business

· Drive the activities and profile of the SF innovations hubs, focusing on the blended finance vertical

· Alongside coverage, develop bank wide partnerships with MDB/DFI clients

· Engage senior management and decision makers of key clients to deliver partner/trusted advisor status. Anticipate industry needs and provide strategic advice, bringing in the relevant product and SF partners as appropriate

· Professionally represent Standard Chartered Bank at the highest levels within region and internationally.

· Bring strategic thought and vision as to how the SF landscape regionally/globally is changing and where areas of international growth lie relevant to clients

Processes

· Deliver on SF mandate in line with industry best practices and SC internal safeguards including reputational risk, ESRM and industry sensitivities (coal financing, green washing etc.)

People & Talent

· Develop junior talent across SF, support leadership initiatives and align with SCB culture.

· Build appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

· Support the Blended Finance Programmes lead in employing, engaging and retaining high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.

Risk Management

· Take the initiative regarding relevant regulatory, reputational and ethical matters, taking the initiative for providing proactive advice to clients as identified.

· Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct and develop a robust culture to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among team members.

· Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate escalation to Regional / Country Banking Heads and Group/governance committees, as appropriate

Governance

· Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas

· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

· Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

· University Degree or Equivalent

· 10 years of experience in multi product origination across Financial Institutions

· Training: Practical or Academic Sustainable Finance
