The Lab Technician will be a key member of R&D and Solutions Innovation, a group within Tate & Lyle’s Innovation and Commercial Development Division (ICD) located at the Tate & Lyle site in Singapore.
The ICD division is responsible for the new product development (NPD) pipeline and includes commercial and technical functions. The R&D and Solutions Innovation team within ICD is engaged in all aspects of the product development process, including concept development, business case creation, product design and specifications, scale-up to manufacturing, and new product introduction to customers.

We’re looking to recruit a Lab Technician for our Innovation Lab in the Asia Pacific HQ. This role reports to the Senior Research Scientist, based in Singapore.

What You’ll Be Doing
This technician will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Perform all activities with a strong, positive commitment to safety, including participation in the safety program.
- Maintain a clean work environment in our high throughput laboratory.
- Work hands-on in a laboratory setting to support experiments across various support functions.
- Handle ingredients used in the laboratory through repackaging, loading and unloading of food ingredients, preparing and loading solutions, labelling and logging samples into the computer, and managing recipe ingredients.
- Handle lab equipment including washing, preparing, and loading containers for use by the system and laboratory equipment, as well as overall laboratory cleanliness
EHS
Perform, Maintain and improve the EHS standards and requirements set by the Company. Participate in the company’s EHS program including training, audit etc., arranged by the company.
Location
This role is assigned to be based in the Singapore office, located at Biopolis (Buona Vista MRT)
What You’ll have
- GCE ‘O’/’A’/ ITE/Diploma in any discipline
- A minimum of 2-3 years of working experience ina laboratory environment
- Able to lift and manage 25 Kg bags.
- Possess a strong, positive safety mindset.
- Experience with computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Previous experience in food ingredients or technical manufacturing
- Troubleshooting skills and willingness to tackle problems independently by root cause analysis. Basic mechanical knowledge and experience in mechanical and instrument
