Senior Engineer (Mechanical-Thermal)

The Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer will play a critical role in the design and development of advanced power supply systems. This individual will be responsible for ensuring optimal thermal management and mechanical integrity of our products. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in thermal analysis, mechanical design, and a deep understanding of power electronics.


Duties and Responsibilities

Thermal Design and Analysis:

  • Perform detailed thermal analysis and simulations using CFD and other relevant tools.
  • Develop and optimize thermal management solutions (heat sinks, fans, liquid cooling).
  • Conduct thermal testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability compliance.

Mechanical Design:

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies for power supply products using CAD software.
  • Ensure mechanical designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform mechanical stress and fatigue analysis to ensure durability and robustness.

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop integrated power supply solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance for DFM and DFR.

Prototyping and Testing:

  • Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and coordinate with testing teams for validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and thermal design issues during the prototype and production phases.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create detailed technical documentation including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and management.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical and thermal engineering technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for improving product performance, cost-efficiency, and manufacturing processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of thermal management principles, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for mechanical and thermal design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection for thermal and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM) and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create detailed technical documentation and reports.
  • Capability to perform detailed thermal and mechanical analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to stay updated with technological advancements and apply them to improve product designs.
  • Collaborate on hardware designs to optimize cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related field is required. This foundational education ensures a strong understanding of the principles of mechanical design and thermal management. A Master’s Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 7 Years of experience with demonstrated experience in mechanical and thermal design, preferably within the power supply or electronics industry. This experience should include significant exposure to thermal analysis, mechanical design, and the integration of these disciplines in product development.
  • Specific experience in the power supply or electronics industry is highly preferred due to the unique thermal and mechanical challenges associated with these products.
  • Expertise in using thermal analysis tools such as ANSYS, FloTHERM, or similar CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software. This proficiency is critical for performing accurate thermal simulations and analyses.
  • Advance skills in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software for mechanical design. This includes the ability to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience in performing mechanical stress and fatigue analysis to ensure the durability and robustness of designs.
  • Specific experience with cooling solutions for power electronics, which can include understanding of high power density and high thermal load management.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection for thermal and mechanical components to ensure cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
