We are looking for a creative, motivated and ambitious person to join our growing team at CNA-TV, home to the flagship news programmes Asia First, Asia Tonight, Singapore Tonight and World Tonight, along with our morning-to-evening hourly newscast, Asia Now. The Senior/Editor will report to our cohort of Supervising Editors, working to help design and set the agenda for bulletins that are fast-paced and focused on breaking down the biggest news and business stories making waves in the Asia-Pacific region.
Responsibilities:
- Assign and edit stories, with a sharp focus on maintaining accuracy, quality and zero errors
- Conceptualise graphics, including augmented reality graphics, to tell stories in a more dynamic and interactive manner
- Sub-edit scripts and graphics
- Help lead the production of news programmes by assigning stories to writers, coordinating graphics requests, planning sequences with studio crews and executing live television
- Work with various teams to plan for future shows and live events, using graphics and video to turn ideas into captivating and thought-provoking visual programming
- Pitch ideas that focus on the reporting of global developments with Asian perspectives, in line with our goal to help our audience ‘Understand Asia’
- Train and mentor junior staff members
Requirements:
- At least five-to-seven years of experience working in a fast-paced newsroom
- Be creative, be bold and be a visual storyteller, while encouraging and cultivating those qualities in others around you
- Possess a strong understanding of the big stories in APAC and elsewhere in the world, with an ability to explain and contextualise information for an Asian audience
- Ability to handle the pressures that go along with a 24-hour news channel
- Be an organised person and a high-level multitasker
- Work well in a team environment
- Be prepared to work irregular hours
