Singapore Aquatics (SAQ), as a member of World Aquatics (AQUA), serves as the governing body for swimming, water polo, diving, and artistic swimming in Singapore. SAQ is charged with the development and education of aquatic players, officials, coaches and volunteers throughout Singapore, and with the conduct of competitions and programmes for all levels of participation
Position: National Talent Development Coach
A. PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
- Reporting Structure: Report to the Sport Director and support the Executive Director. Within SAQ's guidelines, the Talent Development Coach is responsible for the holistic development of athletes within SAQ's Skills and TID pathway.
B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effective Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships and communication with SAQ’s partners and stakeholders, including SportSG, affiliates, educational institutions, national federations, and sponsors to ensure alignment.
- Logistical Organisation: Collaborate with the secretariat staff to plan and implement strategies to meet the needs of athletes, coaches, and support staff during training and events, both locally and internationally. This includes managing travel arrangements, accommodations, competition entries, meals, and transportation, ensuring compliance with technical guidelines from organisers.
- Technical Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine the TID and Skills pathway to ensure holistic development of Singapore's future diving talent.
- Assist in crafting an optimal competition pathway to enhance technical skills and competitive experience for athletes.
- Collaborate with coaching teams to create annual plans for divers within the Skills and TID programmes.
- Contribute to the development of a Multi-Year Sports Plan, establishing a sustainable pipeline for Singapore's national diving programme aimed at achieving world-class status.
- Support local coach training to prepare athletes for SAQ programmes.
- Design and execute coach education and development programmes to benefit the coaching community.
- Visit local diving clubs to assess coaching methodologies and devise strategies for enhancing athlete development pathways from the grassroots level.
- Reporting: Maintain and manage athlete performance databases, providing ongoing updates on individual divers' progress and training plans to the Sport Director and parents as required. Report incidents and outcomes to the VP (Diving) and Sport Director. Generate coach reports for overseas trips.
C. JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- Possession of relevant diving coaching certifications, including proficiency in dryland training and water spotting techniques.
- Proven track record in coaching divers to junior international levels.
- Minimum 5 years of coaching experience.
