Senior Systems & Storage Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Systems and Storage Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, configuration, and maintenance of our systems and storage infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of VMware, SAN, storage networking, Windows servers, and backup solutions. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at translating high-level designs and BOMs into low-level designs and deployment workbooks, and visualizing these designs using tools like Visio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup and configure VMware environments.
• Setup and configure SAN switches and storage solutions.
• Setup and configure iSCSI and FC storage systems.
• Manage storage networking and ensure optimal performance.
• Setup and configure Windows servers, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and storage issues.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate systems and storage solutions.
• Analyze high-level designs and BOMs, translating them into low-level designs and deployment workbooks.
• Visualize designs using tools such as Visio.
• Document system configurations, changes, and incidents for future reference.
• Provide technical support and training to clients and internal staff.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend and implement best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems and Storage Engineer or in a similar role.
• Extensive experience with VMware setup and configuration.
• Strong knowledge of SAN switch and storage setup and configuration.
• Experience with iSCSI and FC storage systems.
• Proficiency in storage networking.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows servers setup and configuration, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with backup solutions setup and configuration.
• Basic networking knowledge.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to analyze high-level designs and BOMs and translate them into low-level designs and deployment workbooks.
• Proficiency in visualizing designs using tools such as Visio.
• Proven credentials such as certifications in relevant fields (e.g., VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Veeam Storage, etc.).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of M365 administration.
• Proficiency in Linux systems.
• Experience with Device42 and ManageEngine (OpManager or other products).
• Experience in hardening Windows, Linux, and ESXi environments.
• Experience with Hyper-V and Blade Servers setup.
• Proficiency in Veeam setup and configuration.
