The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is looking for a Research Associate to work on a project to conduct research on Van der Waals Engineering for All-optical Neuromorphic Chip.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and fabrication of van der Waals heterojunctions
- Build up optical characterization setup and perform device characterization
- Simulation and characterization of semiconductor materials.
- Perform the measurement of optoelectronic device
- Conduct the defect testing of the semiconductor materials.
- Collect and analyze the experimental data
- Manuscript preparation
- Work with the team members and help to prepare reports related to the project
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Electronic Science and Technology, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or other related background.
- More than 5-years relevant research experience in synthesis and characterization of 2D materials
- A desire to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
- Self-motivated and good tasks initiative.
- Experience in van der Waals heterojunctions design and device fabrication.
- Proficiency in the design, assembly, and maintenance of ultra-high vacuum equipment
- Familiarity and direct experience in optoelectronic characterization related system and measurement.
- Proficient in the use, maintenance, and repair of molecular beam epitaxy equipment
- Proficient in test equipment of photolithography, homogenizers, magnetron sputterers, plasma etchers, tube furnace CVDs
- Substantial knowledge in on-chip photonics devices and architectures for all-optical neuromorphic computing.
- Excellent communication and writing in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
