Overview

Join the AltSchool team and be at the heart of a transformative educational experience for children with special needs. We're seeking dedicated Teachers eager to collaborate on innovative early intervention strategies and make a tangible difference.


First 90 Days

  • Immerse yourself in AltSchool’s core values and methods, understanding our innovative approach to early intervention.
  • Learn and embrace all our policies and protocols, including teaching approaches, performance management, parent engagement protocols, and safety procedures.
  • Familiarise yourself with our school management app and become proficient in using Google Workspace.
  • Work closely with our team to adapt and enrich our curriculum framework (IEYC), ensuring alignment with the AEPS assessment framework.
  • Design and implement dynamic Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Engage with the AltSchool community, including families, to establish trust and communication channels.

Ongoing Expectations

  • Plan and execute lesson plans, delivering and refining high-quality, individualised education.
  • Support a team of educators, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the Centre Manager and Family Experience Coordinator to ensure operational excellence, coordinate schedules, and maintain high levels of parent engagement.
  • Work closely with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to create and regularly update holistic educational plans for each student.
  • Regularly assess student progress, leveraging technology where possible to streamline reporting and adapt strategies.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of open communication and continuous improvement using our processes and platforms.
  • Implement effective classroom behaviour management strategies in a special needs setting.
  • Coach and mentor assistant teachers, providing guidance and support to ensure high standards of teaching and care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a special education or therapy setting.
  • Familiarity with the AEPS (Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System) for children.
  • Additional certification or accreditation in teaching, with a willingness to pursue further specialisation in early intervention is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in technology use in education, with familiarity in Google Workspace and other digital tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with a passion for driving change in educational practices.
