First 90 Days
- Immerse yourself in AltSchool’s core values and methods, understanding our innovative approach to early intervention.
- Learn and embrace all our policies and protocols, including teaching approaches, performance management, parent engagement protocols, and safety procedures.
- Familiarise yourself with our school management app and integrate it into classroom support.
- Assist lead teachers in adapting and enriching our curriculum framework, ensuring alignment with the AEPS assessment framework.
- Support the design and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Engage with the AltSchool community, including families, to establish trust and communication channels.
Typical Expectations
- Provide hands-on support in delivering high-quality, individualised education under the guidance of lead teachers.
- Assist in managing daily classroom operations, ensuring routines and schedules are followed.
- Support a team of educators, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.
- Collaborate with the Centre Manager and Family Experience Coordinator to ensure operational excellence, coordinate schedules, and maintain high levels of parent engagement.
- Work closely with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to support the creation and regular updating of holistic educational plans for each student.
- Regularly observe and document student progress, providing feedback to lead teachers.
- Actively contribute to a culture of open communication and continuous improvement using our processes and platforms.
Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience working with children, preferably within a special needs setting
- A collaborative spirit with a strong desire to learn and grow within an innovative teaching environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact warmly and effectively with students, staff, and parents
- A proactive and flexible approach to classroom duties
