Our clients include blue-chip medical device, pharmaceutical, med and health tech companies, and private clinics and hospital groups. We are dedicated to helping healthcare organisations, pharmaceutical companies, and medical professionals effectively communicate their messages to diverse audiences. We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Medical Writer/Coordinator to join our dynamic team.
As a Medical Writer/Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling, accurate, and informative content that enhances our clients' healthcare communication strategies. You will work closely with our PR and communications team and healthcare clients to produce high-quality content tailored to different media channels and audiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Content Creation: Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of medical and healthcare content, including press releases, questionnaires, fact sheets, articles, blog posts, whitepapers, and social media posts. Translate complex medical and scientific information into clear and engaging content for both healthcare professionals and the general public. Writing articles for medical and scientific non-journal B2B media. These articles may be ‘written’ on behalf of doctors or other key opinion leaders (KOLs) or interviews with doctors, KOLs, or patients. Occasionally, submit articles under your own by-line.
2. Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough research on medical topics, scientific facts, healthcare trends, disease statistics, and client-specific subject matter to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content. Stay updated on the latest developments in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and regulatory guidelines.
3. Client Relationship Management: Serving as the main contact for healthcare clients, building strong relationships. Understanding clients' business goals and audience, and crafting customized PR and communications strategies. Also, maintain regular communication to update clients, gather feedback, and address concerns as needed.
4. Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers to secure media coverage for clients. Develop and distribute press releases, media pitches, and other media materials. Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and other media opportunities for clients.
5. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PR specialists, graphic designers, and digital marketers, to create integrated communication campaigns. Work closely with healthcare clients and experts to gather insights and develop content strategies.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all medical content adheres to industry regulations, including Malaysia’s Advertisements Boards (MAB), Singapore’s Health Sciences Authorities (HSA), and other country-specific guidelines, and maintain the highest ethical standards in medical writing.
7. Client Communications: Engage in client meetings and discussions to understand their communication needs, objectives, and target audiences. Provide expert guidance and recommendations on healthcare communication strategies.
8. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on all content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines and approved claims. Review and verify references and citations to maintain credibility. Ensure references are formatted to the American Psychological Association (APA) standard or as stipulated by the client.
9. Confidentiality: Handle sensitive healthcare information with the utmost confidentiality and data security.
Essential Requirements:
· Must be Singaporean/PR, or LTVP holders with PLOC.
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacology, or Communications). Advanced degrees (e.g., MD, MSc, PhD) are a plus.
· Proven experience in medical writing, preferably in a PR or healthcare communications environment.
· Strong understanding of medical terminology, scientific principles, and healthcare industry trends.
· Good writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements for healthcare and pharmaceutical content a plus.
· Proficiency in using medical databases, reference management tools, Google Scholar, and industry-specific software.
· Proficiency in English is a must.
· Proficiency in a second language (Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, etc.) is a plus
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
· Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously.
· A passion for healthcare, an inquisitive nature, and a commitment to staying up-to-date with industry developments.
