Teaching undergraduate university students (third year level) in various topics related to food microbiology and food safety including microbial examination of food, predictive microbiology modelling, thermal death kinetics of microorganisms and HACCP as applied in the food industry.
- Prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials for an advanced food microbiology module including the topics of microbial examination of food, predictive microbiology modelling, microbial death kinetics, HACCP and managing food safety in the food industry.
- Experience and ability to demonstrate practical microbiology skills and techniques and to be able to problem solve student project problems as they arise
- Experience and ability to deliver modules and support students to achieve successful outcomes in project-based learning modules.
- Able to provide high quality lab instruction and guidance in various food microbiology project laboratory sessions.
- Able to provide instruction and guidance on analysis of data and solution of mathematical problems in the laboratory and in class.
- Collaborate with academic and technical colleagues within the food technology department on the improvement of teaching activities and learning outcomes.
- An energetic and engaging personality able to motivate and inspires students to succeed
- Able to provide timely and constructive feedback on student work.
