Job Overview:
The opening job role is responsible for shaping, cutting, and finishing stone to create stone countertops, sculptures, and other stone products. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality output. The ideal candidate will have experience with various stone types and tools, a strong understanding of measurements, drawings, and specifications, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cutting and Shaping Stone: Use Waterjet, and bridge cutter machinery to cut and shape stone slabs.
Measure and mark stone for cutting according to specifications.
Operate with semi-CNC machinery to achieve desired shapes and sizes.
- Finishing and Polishing: To achieve a specified finish, smooth and polish stone surfaces.
Sealants or other finishes are applied to protect and enhance the appearance of the stone.
- Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings. Ability to convert drawings into auto-cad for machine cutting.
Follow detailed instructions to ensure accurate and precise stone cutting and finishing.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality.
Make adjustments and corrections as needed to meet quality standards.
- Maintenance and Safety: Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear to minimize risks.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in stone cutting and finishing with waterjet machine knowledge is preferred.
Familiarity with various stone types and their properties.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and stone-cutting machinery.
Strong understanding of measurements, specifications, and tolerances.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy stone materials.
Stamina to stand, bend, and work for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision and accuracy in work.
A keen eye for detail to ensure quality finishes.
- Communication: Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.
