Job Summary:
The School Kitchen Aide is responsible for assisting with various tasks in the school kitchen labs to facilitate meal preparation, service, and cleanup. They help maintain a clean and organized food service environment and ensure that students receive a safe environment to conduct their FCE practicals in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Assist with the preparation of food items, as directed by the teacher-in-charge.
Cleanliness and Sanitation:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation and serving areas, countertops, and dining tables.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in accordance with school policies.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety and hygiene protocols, including the safe handling of food, proper use of kitchen equipment, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Assist in conducting regular inspections of kitchen equipment and report any maintenance or repair needs.
Inventory Management:
- Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food and supplies.
- Help with inventory control, including rotating stock, checking for expiration dates, and reporting inventory levels to supervisors.
Qualifications Required:
- N Levels or equivilant
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a similar role in a school cafeteria or food service setting is often preferred but not always required.
