JOB DESCRIPTION


As a Assistant Manager of the Exhibitions Team of Defence Collective Singapore (DCS), you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about National Education and Singapore’s defence story and culture of the five entities within DCS (namely Singapore Discovery Centre, NS Gallery, Singapore Airforce, Army and Navy Museums).

You will be part of the Gallery and Exhibition Team in planning and developing the permanent galleries and special exhibitions to create interactive and immersive experiences that communicate the Singapore Defence Story to serve DCS’s mission.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop Gallery and Exhibitions Concept and Design. To plan, conceptualise, coordinate, and ensure timely delivery of quality permanent exhibits and special exhibitions, including any required satellite or roving exhibitions that communicate the Singapore Defence Story to the public and targeted audiences.
  • Coordinate creative discussions for future/upcoming exhibitions with internal and external stakeholders, to propose exhibition concepts, design approaches, and work on budget allocations for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Explore new delivery approaches. Strengthen interactive and digital engagement; and include co-creation and cross-disciplinary development.
  • Prepare funding requisition, manage and support procurement/ tender workflow, including procurement, insurance, licences, set-up/dismantling requirements, and advisory. Ensure compliance with government construction regulatory and company policy requirements.
  • Coordinate with other stakeholders/ departments/ vendors on publicity, advertising, and collaterals, as well as coordinate curatorial and collections requirements for design and production and visitor experience and operational needs.
  • Safeguard both physical and intellectual properties of DCS. Ensure site safety and conduct risk assessments.
  • Oversee logistics movement and manage the production team and vendors in the setting up and dismantling of exhibits on site. Including large objects and sensitive artefacts, where required.
  • Manage quality deliverables by the vendors and safeguard key story intent and engagement objectives for a safe and inclusive exhibition for all.
  • Work with the Exhibitions Director and Team in seeking collaboration opportunities including connecting with reputable external agencies and Singapore and international partners to work on new possible areas of growth and exhibition approaches.
  • Work with the Exhibitions Director and Team in internal and external stakeholder management and maintain strong professional relationships and long-term partnerships.
  • Actively collaborate with other departments including digital, education, programming, and marketing
  • Manage and administer ad-hoc projects, processes, and procedures, as and when required

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at a Degree/ Diploma in Exhibition Design/ Multimedia Design or Interior Design or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience in handling experiential gallery and multidisciplinary exhibition production management.
  • Process good working knowledge in design, project management, and experience with varied scale of project tenders preferred.
  • Process basic knowledge in international museum and archive principles, standards and practices, development, current and emerging trends, and professional code of ethics and practices.
  • Knowledge of site safety requirements and Workplace Safety and Health requirements preferred.
  • Strong organisational, project management, and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Meticulous and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative, fun, and a team player.
  • Must have an interest or passion for Singapore or defence-related issues and story.
  • Must be comfortable to work on weekends or at night, if required
