We are seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in PowerShell scripting, desktop imaging, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Desktop Access (VDA), and Group Policy Object (GPO) management. This role involves maintaining and optimizing desktop environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Desktop Imaging and Deployment:
- Develop, maintain, and deploy desktop images for various hardware configurations.
- Manage and streamline the imaging process to ensure rapid and efficient deployment.
- Ensure images are up-to-date with the latest patches, updates, and security configurations.
2. VDI/VDA Management:
- Design, implement, and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) solutions.
- Monitor and maintain VDI environments to ensure high availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve VDI-related issues and provide support to end-users.
3. PowerShell Scripting:
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Utilize PowerShell to manage and configure desktop environments, deploy applications, and enforce security policies.
4. Group Policy Management:
- Design, implement, and manage Group Policies to enforce security and operational standards across desktop environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Group Policy Objects (GPO).
5. Maintenance and Support:
- Provide second and third-level support for desktop-related issues.
- Perform regular system audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate desktop solutions with overall IT infrastructure.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of desktop configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Generate reports on desktop performance, incidents, and resolutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in desktop engineering or a similar role.
- Proven experience with PowerShell scripting.
- Strong experience with desktop imaging and deployment.
- Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Desktop Access (VDA).
- Experience with Group Policy Objects (GPO) management in a Windows environment.
- In-depth knowledge of desktop operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
