Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive safety and environmental assessments of the company’s vessels to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
- Provide expert guidance and support to vessel crews and shore-based personnel to foster a robust safety and environmental culture.
- Develop and implement safety and environmental policies and procedures, aligning with best practices and industry standards.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, port authorities, and regulatory bodies, to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and offer recommendations for effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and analyze safety and environmental performance data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Deliver training and support to employees to reinforce and sustain a strong safety and environmental culture within the organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the bulk shipping industry.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations pertinent to the maritime industry.
- Proven experience in conducting safety and environmental assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to make sound recommendations based on data.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
