1. JOB PURPOSE
The jobholder supports and assists the Allied Health Department in the therapy sessions for the clients of the Senior Care Centre.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
2.1.1 Prepare treatment room for clients by following prescribed procedures and
protocols.
2.1.2 Prepare clients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting,
providing and/or assisting patient into physical therapy apparel or apertures.
2.1.3 Provide information to clients by answering questions and requests; allaying
fears.
2.1.4 Help treat clients by applying heat packs; assisting clients and helping clients
onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion; tracking walking time and
distance; measuring mobility; performing prescribed exercises and
strengthening techniques.
2.1.5 Educate clients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise
routines.
2.1.6 Maintain client’s confidence and protects operations by keeping information
confidential.
2.1.7 Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures,
rules, and regulations.
2.1.8 Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and
supplies to treatment area; positioning equipment for therapist access;
positioning clients on equipment.
2.1.9 Ensure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive
maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instruction;
troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
2.1.10 Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine
inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for
supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
2.1.11 Adhere to professional standards, policies and procedures.
2.2 Secondary Responsibilities and duties (20%)
2.2.1 Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading
professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in
professional organizations.
2.2.2 Enhance physical therapy department and organization reputation by
accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring
opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
