The Chinese Media Group seeks a Social Media Specialist to help set strategy and manage execution of ideas across various social media platforms under the Zaobao.
To be successful in this role, he or she should be a digital native well-versed in the latest social media trends and analytic tools. He or she should also be familiar with the various platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Xiaohongshu, Weibo etc and possess a strong command of Chinese and English.
The Job
· Build an overall social management strategy through competitive and audience research for platforms under Lianhe Zaobao brand, and work with the newsroom to see through its execution
· Follow and deploy social media best practices
· Educate producers and editors in social management know-hows and techniques necessary to run accounts
· Ideate and design, using tools such as Canva, platform-specific templates to increase efficiency in social content production
· Monitor and analyse social media data, using tools such as Sprout Social, Youtube and Tiktok Studios and Meta Business Suites to provide insights and recommendations for improvement
· Build and grow relationship/engagement with social media audiences through comments monitoring, virtual community building and occasionally going for offline events to produce contents for Zaobao's social media platforms, such as short videos, social cards and social posts to promote Zaobao's branding and engage followers.
· Produce short videos, using tools such as CapCut by either trimming existing longform videos or footages from third party platforms, or going for media events to shoot footages, write scripts and edit short videos.
Requirements
· 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in social media management
· Fluent in oral and written Chinese as this role is for Chinese Media Group
· Knowledge in social media analytics tools e.g. Google Analytics, Sprout Social and, CrowdTangle
· Passionate about current affairs and social media
· Ability to work independently and with other teams in clearly expressing our needs and proposing solutions.
· Relevant degree course or technical certifications
· Spontaneous and outgoing, able to independently go for last minute assignments such as doing VoxPox interviews on the streets should the need arise.
