Role Overview

We are looking for a senior level individual to join our APAC Consulting team in as a Vice President. You will have a track record of success either in another consulting or industry role in the Chemicals industry, with proven problem solving capability working with a range of stakeholders, and emerging leadership qualities. You will be comfortable with resolving ambiguity and enjoy resolving complicated situations and problems.


As a key member of our regional Consulting team working closely with global practice colleagues, you will be responsible for managing commercial and strategic consulting projects in the petrochemical industry, aiding in the coaching and professional development of our junior teams. You will interface with our senior clients and internal experts on an ongoing basis, and apply your industry and problem-solving knowledge and experience to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations.


You will be expected to support the leadership of the Chemicals practice and its growth agenda in partnership with your colleagues. You will leverage Wood Mackenzie’s deep relationships across the industry to understand clients' challenges and needs and contribution towards the development of new consulting offerings. You will also work closely with other sector teams to address our clients’ cross-sector challenges.

The successful candidate can expect moderate travel, both regional and global and be expected to be a role model for our junior teams and assist in their professional development.


Main Responsibilities

Project and Team Direction

  • Project and team leadership – directing and managing projects, teams, budgets and resources and ensuring high quality, insightful results to achieve our client project objectives
  • Providing functional guidance and content expertise while fostering the individual development of team members
  • Improving operational processes for the life cycle of consulting assignments and ensuring processes are embedded across team members
  • Identifying and pitching follow-up and resale opportunities
  • Working closely with the Sales and Account Management teams

Business and Practice Development

  • Proactively maintaining a high level of client interaction across the region
  • Developing strong relationships and supporting repeatable, profitable consulting business
  • Being one of our senior practice leaders to promote best practice in business development across the organisation
  • Scoping and writing pitches, ensuring quality and appropriate pricing
  • Shaping the future direction and growth of our Chemicals team in region and globally

Thought Leadership and Collaboration

  • Keeping abreast of industry developments and generating innovative ideas and approaches to industry issues and client issues
  • Providing subject matter expertise input to consulting projects and client interactions
  • Engaging with and developing a senior-level client network
  • Building and maintaining an internal network across Consulting, Research, Sales, and Account Management
  • Actively collaborating with colleagues in our other sector consulting teams to ensure good coordination and greatest value creation across the value chain for our clients

Qualifications

  • Top-tier university degree (master’s/diploma/PhD) and/or MBA or relevant Master's degree from a top program
  • Significant previous experience (for example 15+ years) as a senior chemicals-focused consulting role or a senior strategic planning, business development, or commercial role within the chemicals industry
  • Industry knowledge of the chemicals sector which could include markets, operations, technical, commercial, business models, or strategic aspects
  • Track record and experience in directing, managing and executing internal and/or external consulting engagements and driving industry and/or consulting business development
  • Language skills are a plus
