Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Mami’s Tamales. The ideal candidate will assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of authentic and delicious tamales and other Mexican dishes. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Sous Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Prepare and cook high-quality tamales and other Mexican dishes according to Mami’s Tamales' recipes and standards.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, following proper sanitation procedures.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and refine recipes and menu items.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering and managing kitchen supplies.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of dishes during service hours.
- Assist in managing kitchen equipment maintenance and troubleshooting any issues.
- Support the Sous Chef in any other tasks as required to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within a high-quality restaurant or culinary environment.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican cuisine, particularly tamales, is highly desirable.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
