Key Responsibilities:
1. Transaction Monitoring: Conduct continuous monitoring of customer transactions using AML software systems to identify unusual patterns or suspicious activities. Analyze large volumes of transaction data to detect potential money laundering or fraudulent activities.
2. Alert Investigation: Investigate and evaluate alerts generated by the transaction monitoring system. Determine whether transactions are unusual and require further investigation or escalation based on predefined criteria and patterns.
3. Reporting and Documentation: Document findings and actions taken for each alert. Prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintain comprehensive records for audit and examination purposes.
4. Customer Due Diligence and Risk Assessment: Perform due diligence reviews of customers’ profiles and transaction behaviors. Assess and rate customer risk levels based on transaction activities and patterns.
5. Compliance and Regulation Adherence: Stay updated with new developments in AML regulations. Ensure that all monitoring procedures and tools are updated and compliant with current laws and guidelines.
6. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with compliance, legal, and operational teams to implement effective AML strategies. Communicate findings to management and provide recommendations for resolving or escalating issues.
7. Training and Development: Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of AML regulations, trends in financial crimes, and best practices in transaction monitoring.
8. Enhancing Monitoring Tools: Assist in the evaluation and improvement of transaction monitoring systems and procedures. Provide feedback on the performance of monitoring tools and suggest enhancements.
