Position Available: Project Officer, Plant Genomics
Join the laboratory of Jarkko Salojarvi at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Project Officer to contribute to a project focused on the genomics of South East Asian rainforests. You will assemble the genome of a local plant species and study the evolution of secondary metabolism pathways in its genus.
Key responsibilities
- Establish a high-quality reference genome for the plant species using long read genome sequencing platforms.
- Annotate the genome and analyse data from a controlled experiment that combined RNA-sequencing and metabolomics data.
Job Requirements
- A BSc degree in Biology or related areas, with a focus or final year project on plant genomics.
- Experience in RNA-sequencing data analysis and metabolomics data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
