Job Overview:As an Oil Market Maker based in Singapore, you will be responsible for providing liquidity and facilitating trading in oil markets across the Asia Pacific region. You will manage and optimize trading positions, maintain a competitive bid-ask spread, and support market efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of the oil market dynamics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously quote buy and sell prices for oil futures, options, and other derivatives.
- Ensure consistent market liquidity by maintaining tight bid-ask spreads and managing order flow.
- Monitor global and regional oil market trends, news, and economic indicators that impact oil prices.
- Conduct technical and fundamental analysis to inform trading strategies and decision-making.
- Execute trades efficiently and accurately, ensuring adherence to trading strategies and risk management protocols.
- Monitor and adjust trading positions to respond to market fluctuations and optimize profitability.
- Implement and manage risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to adverse price movements.
- Use hedging techniques and financial instruments to balance and protect trading positions.
- Work closely with other traders, analysts, and stakeholders to share market insights and coordinate trading strategies.
- Prepare and present regular reports on trading performance, market conditions, and risk exposures.
- Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for auditing and regulatory purposes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
- 2-6 years experience in oil trading or market-making, preferably within the Asia Pacific region. Familiarity with oil futures, options, and other derivatives.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in trading software and market data platforms. Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth understanding of oil market dynamics, supply and demand factors, and geopolitical influences on oil prices.
