Business Manager, Global Credit Markets

Job Summary

The role is a key position in the Credit Markets COO team with involvement in all aspects of business management and project management initiatives. The successful applicant will:

• Provide business support as part of the COO team to the Global Head of Credit Markets, by assisting in developing and implementing business strategy and help facilitate business by removing blockages.
• Work with Global Credit Markets Management Team (MT) to facilitate strategy execution, manage business pipelines, forecast future revenues, and execute on growth strategies.
• Work on key risk and business initiatives, including authoring key updates to Group MT, CIB MT, and key risk committees (such as Board Risk Committee, Group Risk Committee).
• Help liaise with regulatory affairs to represent business in completion of key regulatory requirements and asks, including periodic updates to the PRA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Play a key role in establishing business processes under the Governance framework and strategic developments in GCM space.

Strategy

• To support business in various strategic Credit Markets initiatives
• To coordinate the preparation of Business Corporate Plan and consolidation of business strategic initiatives across products and regions
• To support the Business in contributing to the Bank’s near-term and long-term revenue targets
• To be able to support business head/frontline staff to enable best in class Credit Markets franchise within footprint and grow revenues.
• Provide management and represent Credit Markets interest across multi-functional project teams including relevant business and COO teams, technology, legal, compliance, risk, and TPRM for various projects

Business
• To work closely with the Heads of Credit Markets and Management Teams, providing support in all aspects of business development including execution of business strategy, long term growth plans.
• To prepare periodic business updates to the Board, Group MT, CIB MT, and other senior management forums as relevant.
• To monitor and prepare updates on GCM performance, assets, RWA, pipelines.
• To monitor and report business performance vis-à-vis competitors – including identification and reporting of market share, wallet share and other parameters.
• To manage business pipelines and revenue forecasting processes by closely collaborating with business MT, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators of the business, by working collaboratively with stakeholders across GCM, other Banking and Markets business, Finance, and other support functions.
• To manage the communication agenda for the business MT (including global business head) by coordinating with internal and external communication teams, and the business marketing teams.
• To organize periodic Business MT meetings, BMT meetings, management offsites and global townhalls.
• To assist in driving business and operational efficiencies via technological innovations with the Credit Markets COO team.
• To assist in implementation for of various regulatory or structural change driven projects.
• To assist in implementing tactical and strategic projects aimed at operationalizing the Bank’s Fit for Growth agenda targets.
• To assist with MIS requests and work with Finance on reporting improvements
• To support and manage the tools required by the business to perform their role.
• Coordinate the GCM awards process centrally. Act as the single point of contact between GCM business teams and external publications (while collaborating with the Bank’s regional and global marketing teams) in submitting pitches for global and regional awards.

Processes
• To identify key process blockages leading to revenue and return impact, and to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify solutions for these. Collaborate with the wider GCM COO team and support functions to ensure process blockages are remediated.
• With the Credit Markets COO, continue to review front office processes to ensure efficiencies and adherence to controls, policies, and procedures.

Skills and Experience

People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

Risk Management
• Work with business to identify key risk asks needed to enable the business.
• Work with business MT to author key risk papers and updates to risk forums.
• Collaborate with CIB Risk stakeholders, CCO Specialized finance risk, and other relevant risk partners to represent business in risk discussions. Provide timely and accurate responses to risk asks (including data requirements, periodic market updates etc).

Governance
• Assist in collating and reporting key performance indicators for the businesses to the Business governance forums.
• Together with the Credit Markets COO, act as the primary point of contact for the development of processes, procedures and control for Credit Markets.

Technology Initiatives

• To support Credit Market’s strategic technology initiatives by building business cases for technology investments
• Ability to think literally and look for opportunities to simplify process and enhance controls as part of design

Regulatory & Business Conduct

• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Represent the business head in discussions with Group Regulatory Liaison team regarding any updates to be presented to key regulators. Timely and accurate preparation of relevant business updates and papers requested by the regulators via the Group Regulatory Liaison team.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

· 8+ years of experience in Business Management, Project Management and managing/running technology projects.

· Provide business support as part of COO to the various Global Heads under Credit Markets by assisting in developing and implementing business strategy and help facilitate business by removing blockages.

· Play a key role in providing overall governance of the Credit businesses to ensure compliance with all key governance requirements, including control and risk reporting via the Operational Risk Framework; and ensuring compliance with regulations.

· Familiarity with supply chain and procurement processes

· To assist with various efficiency, transformation initiatives for the business

· Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
