Chemist - Method Development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as contact person in laboratory technology advancement to support the business development need.
  • Defines and develops standard laboratories and processes for specific applications.
  • Makes recommendations for technical improvements, as needed.
  • Performs development, verification and validation of test method.
  • Write validation protocols and reports.
  • Performs all testing with good laboratory techniques and a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Perform measurement uncertainty for existing and new methods according to ISO 17025 requirement.
  • Prepares and reviews test reports as required.
  • Verify report for discrepancies and take corrective action as required.
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments.
  • Ensure the tests performed and documentation are in accordance to ISO 17025 requirement.
  • Respond to customer query on clarification of test methods, discrepancy in results
  • Any other ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Lab Manager.
  • Applies the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility.
  • Proactively plans and multitasks to maximize productivity.
  • Meets all quality and productivity metrics and demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Assists Laboratory Manager in the edits and updates of SOPs, WI and other documentation.
  • Maintains working areas appropriately (housekeeping, etc…)
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Trains and lead junior analysts and interns as required.

Job Requirement:

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree in Chemistry, Science or equivalent.
  • Interacts with operational personnel, scientific personnel, and department management.
  • Excellent academic track record.
  • Excellent English oral and written is a must. Mandarin and/or multi-lingual are a plus
  • Personal skills: Strong problem-solver with “can-do” attitude, able to both pragmatically define solutions and capture and understand all relevant details when necessary.
  • Self-starter, independent, energetic, and self-sufficient.
  • Ability to learn fast and be flexible and pragmatic.
  • Moderate industry and customer management knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge IT: MS Office products, Data analysis, SQL competences are a plus.
