Job Summary

This role will report directly to the Head of Business Management, Transaction Banking (TB) and matrix to the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital. This role will provide representation for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital in collectively achieving Transaction Banking goals, and will support delivery around business planning, tracking performance & closure of critical business issues.

The role holder will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the vision of Trade, driving and managing key business requirements, liaising and solutioning alongside the Trade MT, whilst serving as a trusted advisor for the Global Head of Trade and Working Capital.

The role holder will bring knowledge of Trade products and clients, a big picture mindset, strong problem-solving skills and ability to challenge ideas and develop solutions. The role holder must be adaptable, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, detail orientated, able to manage across various priorities, and capable of building strong stakeholder relationships across Trade and TV.

TB Business Management

· Deliver against key priorities for the Trade & Working Capital business, ensuring alignment across Transaction Banking.

· As a member of the BPM team within Transaction Banking, partner with other BPMs to share ideas and best practices for delivering against common goals.

· Support the collective delivery of the Trade & Working Capital, and wider TB agenda, across revenue and cost targets, people initiatives and overall strategic goals.

· Implement TB communication practices and provide relevant inputs to build the Trade & Transaction Banking narrative.

· Act as a key point of contact for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital, facilitating engagement, communication, challenge, and alignment.

· Work on everyday action items that supports the effectiveness of the Trade & Working Capital business.

Representation for Trade and Working Capital

· Act as a key point of contact for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital, facilitating engagement, communication, challenge, and alignment.

· Support the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital in understanding the various initiatives and activities underway across the business, keeping them abreast of updates.

· Ensure accuracy of all materials produced for the attention of the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital, providing review, challenge and follow-up.

· Create an environment which rewards forward planning, prioritisation, and deadline management in Trade & Working Capital.

· Provide decision facilitation for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital, whilst reconciling business challenges in a timely manner.

· Support the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital in overseeing deliverables, challenging outputs where required, and ensuring completion.

· Work closely with the Executive Assistant for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital to ensure effective use of time.

· Work on everyday action items that supports the effectiveness of the Trade & Working Capital business.

Business Management Responsibilities

· Responsible for preparations for all MT meetings and committees, ensuring materials highlight key matters and enable decisions.

· Act as a catalyst for team motivation and a spirit of openness of trust and idea sharing.

· Coordinate and support business engagements with other teams / partners across TB, CCIB and CPBB.

· Provide inputs to improve effectiveness and efficiency within the Trade & Working Capital business.

· Review MIS from Finance teams and make recommendations to manage business cost and performance accordingly.

· Support budgeting, HC planning and delivery against commitments throughout financial year.

· Provide cost oversight for the Trade & Working Capital business, including tracking of HC movement, business cost centre management, and assistance with hiring approvals.

· Develop and track key measures of performance and success, to drive continuous improvement and alignment to corporate plan for Trade & Working Capital.

Trade People Agenda

· Lead the design and delivery of Trade Management Team meetings, ensuring effective meeting agendas and facilitation.

· Handle sensitive information, ensuring effective response and resolution.

· Coordinate specific people plan projects/ initiatives for the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital, in partnership with the Transaction Banking HR Business Partner.

· Support the delivery of MIS to meet the needs of the business, across talent management, year-end processes, learning/development plans, staff surveys, etc.

Stakeholder Management

· Work closely with management within Trade and TB to ensure a standard approach to issue resolution, handling initiatives and driving change.

· Work closely with the Trade COO, Trade CFO, Trade Strategy Head, Trade Enablement Head and HR BP across activities and performance tracking linked to revenue & cost targets, investment requirements, product & client strategy, risk management, marketing and people priorities.

· Engage with internal & external stakeholders where appropriate to ensure Trade initiatives are fit for purpose in delivering our aspiration.

· Support overall cohesion across the TB businesses, underpinning all activity with a “OneTB” mentality.

Risk Management

· Take responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the Global Head of Trade & Working Capital role.

· Effectively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters. Contribute to a culture in which all stakeholders feel safe to raise concerns and where risk and compliance matters are addressed, and misconduct appropriately dealt with.

· Support Risk Management priorities across Trade and Transaction Banking.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate

· Education: University degree

· 8 years of corporate banking experience with 3 years as a Business Manager or with related project / portfolio / business management experience

· 3 years of Trade & Working Capital experience, and ideally a level of working knowledge of wider Transaction Banking products

· Stakeholder Management Skills
