PURPOSE
- To lead the Investment Management Strategy & Manager Management function within Group Investments
KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES
- Establish and develop Group investment strategy solutions with focus on Emerging Market Group for both general account and IPP strategies
- Be lead investment manager for GI team’s direct responsibilities for the growing portfolios of FWD Re and ListCo
- Lead local teams in regular external manager evaluations, lead and set standards for manager selection processes
- Responsible for identifying, researching and sourcing new market opportunities within traditional asset classes
- Analyze and define fixed income strategies within various Group Business Units’ (BU) portfolios
- Propose and manage suitable implementation strategies incl. manager selection & reviews
- Closely work with Group Alternatives team on complementary investment ideas and solutions
- Lead, prepare and coordinate with local BUs (with focus on Emerging Markets Group); obtain investment strategy/proposal approvals among various Committee as required including working closely with internal (e.g., internal counsel, compliance, risk management) and external parties
- Advise Group entities on optimizing key portfolio metrics within existing SAA
- Actively support the Group Strategy and TAA team initiative (led by HK CIO) and provide Group’s direction
- Support the ALM/SAA process in close cooperation with Actuaries and Risk Managers
- Provide timely and frequent updates to Group and BUs’ senior management
- Represent Group Investments in select local BU Investment Committees
- Providing assistance and guidance to the broader investment team
- Develop, review and implement investment governance and best practice processes across the Group
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience in finance and investment area, (insurance) asset management
- Experience in life insurance investment management and ALM an advantage
- Quantitative or finance related degree from a recognized university
- CFA or actuarial qualification an advantage
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Broad knowledge of capital markets and asset classes, focus on fixed income
- Capacity to analyze and understand new asset classes
- Strong communication skills (financial context); ability to build financial models for a broad array of assets and portfolios
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with key stakeholders within FWD
