Job Description
We seek to hire a motivated attorney with significant APAC employment and preferably equity compensation background to join our Legal & Compliance Department. In this position, you will partner closely with our International HR and business teams to handle a broad range of APAC employment issues and global employee equity issues. This is a great opportunity for mid-to-senior-level employment lawyers to utilize employment law expertise in a truly multinational environment. This position also provides a unique opportunity to gain expertise in the niche area of employee equity arbitration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day counseling on various employment, contingent workforce (CWF) and other HR compliance issues in APAC (in particular South East Asia), including recruiting and hiring, employee management, CWF management, termination, leaves and benefits, wage and hour, internal HR operation and process, etc.
- Review, revise and update a variety of employment-related agreements and HR policies, and provide guidance to HR and business teams on implementation.
- Manage employee equity compensation-related arbitration; advise on equity compensation issues (including plan design, establishment, administration, and management).
- Provide training to internal stakeholders on employment and ESOP issues.
Position Requirements
- Legal qualification from Singapore or an international jurisdiction.
- 10 years post-qualification experience practicing employment or equity compensation laws in a large law firm or in-house legal department. Deep experience in APAC employment laws would be a plus.
- Meaningful experience handling employment litigation/arbitration would be a plus. Experience handling equity compensation-related litigation/arbitration would be a significant plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; exceptional business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice to HR and business teams.
- Open to international travel, including to Hangzhou, China, and other countries in APAC
